Welcome to Vinyl Revival E-Zine a new publication keeping
track on the moving and somewhat quivering re-emergence of the spinning deck divinity.
It has been proclaimed that this pre-ordained product could
be the saviour of flagging album sales, and so far this music medium has been
welcomed back with open arms. The course
of pressed plastic might not be spinning as smoothly as the eager distributors have
foreseen though as notorious bands such as Radiohead create a hype of ambiguous
whisperings over the frustrating notion that their new album might not be
conclusive. Is pre-promotional marketing signalling a return to the ‘Blair
Witch’ phenomena? Check out NME’s
version of events from Luke Lewis’s article last year on links.
For the endeavouring hard core collector this is all merely
a halved raised eyebrow as they shift through their alphabetically stacked
tower with the deftest of a croupier. Consider however what this revitalisation
is now costing us? Adele’s album ‘21’ on vinyl is a princely £25.00 on some
purchase sites and if you fancy the Art vinyl gift pack for Christmas you’re
looking at £59.00 (only available on line) it’s not looking any brighter for
the likes of HMV this Yule tide.... So if we are going to get back into the ‘groove’ of buying
vinyl are we short changing ourselves on sound quality? (Delve into link -
vinyl verses CD) Will we have the same old problems of yesteryear's dog
crewed cover corners, scratches that are not intentional; and will we
eventually need to return only to the beautifully mobile iPod?
