SOUND IT OUT

http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b01nwfxx/

thank goodness for Tom and Team...

If you haven't caught the brilliant 'Sound it Out' documentary by filmmaker Jeanie Finlay yet then I suggest you take a pew and do so...
Take one music shop in the Northeast and let the camera unfold the cathartic chapters of  the local multiple music maestro's lives.

All starched fans of the Vinyl age, and for those who keep the faith will relate to what lies at the centre of this boudoir of music escapism, 'identity'. These are the loyal fans of their chosen genre of music and this draws them into Tom's haven of stacked, racked and wall mounted packed odyssey of selective joy.

From whatever walk of life, these frequent visitors see this shop as a rare and limited commodity; just like the illusive sixth copy of one particular album sort after for so long, they all have an sense of the adventurer within the confines of a relatively small place and like the Vinyl they so avidly seek its a beacon of identifiable sense in a rapidly senseless world.

Spill the Beans

A shout out to anyone who is thinking of releasing an EP or full album on vinyl.....

Let Vinyl Revival know the highs and lows of your production process and how you intend marketing your product. Being in a band myself we are now trying to explore ways of getting our songs out there, the costs on small runs of vinyl albums and the quality of sound in the age of digital dimensions.

Enlighten our readers with a really good post and win free entry to our EP launch night in Cornwall!
You have to be quick on those keys though as the closing date for post is 5th December.

Many thanks

Welcome to Vinyl Revival E-Zine a new publication keeping track on the moving and somewhat quivering re-emergence of the spinning deck divinity.

It has been proclaimed that this pre-ordained product could be the saviour of flagging album sales, and so far this music medium has been welcomed back with open arms.  The course of pressed plastic might not be spinning as smoothly as the eager distributors have foreseen though as notorious bands such as Radiohead create a hype of ambiguous whisperings over the frustrating notion that their new album might not be conclusive. Is pre-promotional marketing signalling a return to the ‘Blair Witch’ phenomena?  Check out NME’s version of events from Luke Lewis’s article last year on links.
For the endeavouring hard core collector this is all merely a halved raised eyebrow as they shift through their alphabetically stacked tower with the deftest of a croupier. Consider however what this revitalisation is now costing us? Adele’s album ‘21’ on vinyl is a princely £25.00 on some purchase sites and if you fancy the Art vinyl gift pack for Christmas you’re looking at £59.00 (only available on line) it’s not looking any brighter for the likes of HMV this Yule tide.... So if we are going to get back into the ‘groove’ of buying vinyl are we short changing ourselves on sound quality? (Delve into link - vinyl verses CD) Will we have the same old problems of yesteryear's dog crewed cover corners, scratches that are not intentional; and will we eventually need to return only to the beautifully mobile iPod?
